About the Orchestra
The Chamber Orchestra of the Alleghenies, an ensemble of western Pennsylvania musicians formed in 1999, performs without a conductor, involving all the players in the process of shaping and creating the music. It can best be described by its mission statement:
- To provide performances of chamber orchestra literature at a very high artistic level by bringing together the talents of the finest musical performers in the western Pennsylvania region
- To provide educational programs in area schools and communities through informal performances
- To be available for joint ventures with choral, dance, or theater groups
